When events happen, all people can talk about is how great the event was and how much fun they had. Yet people rarely will think twice about how they found out about this event unless they are asked by someone. For some people, it may be a social media ad, billboard, poster, etc. Any one way someone figured out about the event was due to event marketing. Without anyone or anything to market, the event people would simply not know that it is happening.
Events rely on marketing and advertising beforehand because it helps bring in as many people as possible and helps the event reach its target demographic. Event marketing uses that target demographic for each event to help bring in as many people as they can by using different marketing tactics. Some examples are specific social media platforms to reach them, specific promotional items for each demographic, and sometimes famous spokespeople.
An event marketing guide states “According to this report, 95% of marketers agree that live events provide attendees with a valuable opportunity to form in-person connections in an increasingly digital world.” (Aventri.com) It also states, “An overwhelming majority of C-Suite executives (87%) believe in the power of live events and plans on investing in them more in the future.” (Aventri.com) These statements show that live events will be relevant for a long time to come making event marketing an industry that has the potential to grow to new heights. Event Marketing is the backbone of the events industry.
